why would you label boxes 1, 2 and 3 then put the instructions in box 1
the screws in box 3 and the parts i need for step 1 in box 2
what is wrong with you ikea?
righto... im good... back to work
(im having fun really... tho all my swearing really did clear the house lol)

I thought you were supposed to open all the boxes and dump the parts into a pile on the coffee table. That’s the only thing that makes sense when you look at their packaging.

its a 6 ft multi layered cabinet..... i think i’d have gone insane by now if i’d just dumped it in a pile lol
but yes... cannot find the logic in their packaging

Because that’s how it fits by volume.
I’m assuming.

I once got a box and inside the box was a booklet printed “READ BEFORE OPENING BOX”
mmhmm. good one.

I t s eems reasonable that instructions (1) would be the first thing you need , then to line up the parts (2) , then to fasten (3) them together. 1, 2, 3. What am I missing here? I’ve never bought Ikea.

I buy flat-pack because my “ Victorian” staircase doesn’t fit full-sized furniture (or full-sized humans). M ost IKEA boxes are too heavy for me to move on my own anyway so I have to open them and carry all of the pieces upstairs where the pile is.
Then you find out they put the wrong hardware pack in your boxes so you either need to wait 6 weeks for a replacement or drive back to the store and beg.

We’ve bought a couple of items from Ikea. One was missing some bolts and the local store was able to give me what we needed. Another was also missing bolts, but we didn’t have a local store at the time. I had to source new ones from the local hardware store.

How is that going to work when you're putting together a coffee table?
![]() 01/04/2019 at 13:22 |

basically every step i need to make is spread across all 3 boxes... im spending as much time looking for the bit i need next as i am putting things together...
this also would be much less of an issue if i had space for all 3 boxes in the room im building the cabinet in... but i dont.. and theres no way im getting the built cabinet in there from the living room where i would have space for all 3 boxes.... yay narrow hallways and doors
but mostly im just bitching an moaning.. coz thats how i work... i get angry at stuff

seems that way lol.... dont mind me
i get more work done when i get pissed off at it

lol nice

Clearly the issue is that you’re defective.
You know that you’re supposed to unpack and group everything from ALL boxes
before you start assembly.

well sure... you’re also supposed to work in a space large enough to do so
im building a cabinet in a cabinet sized space... its problematic
oh well no worries.... long as im still loudly swearing and cursing ikea im happy
(if i stop that shit odds are something will go through the window tho)

Oh. O k yeah I thought it was divided up as instructions - parts - fasteners. But putting instructions in their own dedicated box is dumb .. . divying it up by “steps” makes much more sense.

i figured it would be by steps.. but oh well... i got the worst of it done now... just gotta put together the drawers and put the back on now
this should be the easy part :P

Maybe what you need is a second cabinet...
